Who we are
Solar Strategies ("we", "us") runs the website solarstrategies.co.uk. We give independent advice on commercial solar, while selling no products. For any question about your data, please use ourcontact form.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry through our form, we collect:
- your name;
- your email address;
- your phone number, if you choose to give it;
- your company and site details, if you choose to give them; and
- the message you write.
We do not ask for special category data, such as health or ethnic origin. We do not knowingly collect data about children, since our service is for organisations.
How we use it, and on what legal basis

We will never sell your data. We will not use it to market unrelated products to you, because that is not what you sent it for.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run this site and to reply to you, such as our hosting and email providers. However, they may only use your data on our instructions.
Some work means contacting others for you, for example asking installers to tender. We only do that when you ask, and we only share what is needed.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: 12 months after our last contact, then deleted.
- Records of paid work: for the length of the work and up to six years after, to meet legal duties, then deleted.
- Site statistics: kept in aggregate form only, with no link to you.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages help people. It may set cookies for that purpose, although it does not tell us who you are. We do not use advertising cookies, and the advertising settings in Google's tag are switched off.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The enquiry form will still work if you do, since it does not rely on cookies.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- see the data we hold about you;
- have wrong or incomplete data put right;
- have your data deleted in some cases;
- ask us to limit how we use it in some cases;
- take a copy of data you gave us to another provider; and
- object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests.
To use any of these rights, send a request through ourcontact form. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Still, we would be grateful for the chance to put things right first.
Keeping it safe
We serve the site over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). We also limit access to enquiry records to the people who need them to reply to you.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we will post it here and update the date at the top of the page, so you can always see the current version.
